Our research strives to reach three core objectives:
1. Embedded open toolkits for user innovation and co-design are seen as a promising approach, but a proof of feasibility is still lacking. Both research institutions are not able to provide such a proof of concept alone but only by bridging their distinctive capabilities. The research subject hence provides a good foundation for future interdisciplinary research.
2. Embedded toolkits build on a number of technical and economic principles which are yet not fundamentally understood. Before further funding to investigate these concepts can be applied, we need to transfer our conceptual thinking into concrete economic and technical principles that will allow the evaluation and further research of the research subject.

3. We feel that such a proof of concept cannot solely be conducted by desk research but demands piloting and experimentation. Our objective is to build an exploratory prototype of an embedded toolkit for user innovation and operating this as part of a piloting stage. This shall allow us also to collect data on the usage and opportunities of these toolkits.
