The Laboratory for Maschine Tools and Production Engineering, WZL at RWTH Aachen University has become generally known for its organisational and technical solutions within the framework of production engineering throughout Germany and Europe. WZL develops the competitiveness and innovation of global industry partners in fields of activity like fundamental researches, applied research, consultancy- and implementation projects. Founded in the year 1906, the Laboratory for Maschine Tools and Production Engineering has risen up to one of the largest technology institutions of a university in Europe. Today, the number of employees amounts to 600 at the four chairs of Manufacturing Technology, Maschine Tools, Production Engineering, Metrology and Quality Management.
